2019 Timeline of Events

    Today we talked about things to do during a meet. Examples are making sure you do your pre-meet warmup, warming up before a race and warming down after a race, properly fueling your body, not wasting energy, and checking out with your coach before you leave for the day

    Today at the end of practice we talked again about how a team that suffers together is a group that gets stronger together. Also, we talked about how your friendships on the team are great motivation yet can also be a distraction if we don't have restraint. Lastly, we talked about what a great month this has been for the gold group and how excited I am that if we can continue to have fun and remain focused our effort should pay off.

    We talked about how it benefits you to not only just do warmup because it has it's standard benefits but that your warm up should be a little bit specialized towards how you're feeling today and what you want to work on that day. For example if your legs are sore maybe you spend a little extra time loosening your legs. If your breaststroke timing feels off maybe you do a drill that helps get your timing back. Warm up is designed to get you ready for whatever you plan on achieving that day.

    We talked about our goal for the new year, communication. The goal helps to encourage opening a communication channel with your coach so that how you're feeling and what you want to work on is known by not just you but by the person that gives the sets. The goal is a part of our theme throughout the year of 2019, empowering yourself.
